Self Assessment of Last Term

Attention / Conduct in class
My conduct in class has been good. I haven’t messed about or carried on that much compared to other people. I haven’t been cheeky to the teachers or given them any reason to go into one with me. There is room for improvement in my attention in class as I am easily distracted by other students sitting beside me. I usually got all my work done due to listening to instructions; the only thing that holds me back is talking to other people. There was one occasion a sub teacher took my name but it wasn’t my fault she was really looking for Paul’s name.

Academic Performance
My academic performance has been good in the last four months. I think this was because I have always paid attention in class and tried my best to work to my full ability although there are a lot of distractions surrounding me in class e.g. other pupils. This term I will try harder to use my free periods for extra study and practising more exercises and making sure all coursework is up to date.

Practical Skills Acquired
Throughout the year we learnt in detail how to use the main software packages, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. I practised these skills by completing all tasks set to the best of my ability and if I was unsure about anything I asked either the teacher or another pupil to help me understand it. I think the thing that made my exam so bad was the lack of time we had to complete it, I was doing a lot of detail in the first few tasks in the exam then had to rush later on as we only had an hour and a half.

Time Spent Out of Class
On a lot of occasions I used my free periods to go to IT and do extra work, including the homework we got on Mondays that were due for Friday. I also worked on exercises at home in my free time. We had a lot of coursework to do for Ms O Carolan, but I aim to spend more time over the next term revising theory that I did in class. Mr Barr also used a free period on a Friday over a couple of weeks for us to do a test, so we committed that time to IT as well.
